here's the rundown of last week:
last wednesday the kids and i drove the 3 hours from hobart to columbus to visit our family. T had work and football so he didn't come until friday evening. i spent the next day getting ready for a garage sale at my parent's house. there was so much stuff to sell! i had overhauled and decluttered our whole house as we were moving and stored all the unwanted items in my mom & dad's third garage. i should've taken a picture of it all! anyway, the sale was on friday and it went better than i could've imagined. extra cash is always nice!
after that i went to get my hair trimmed and the color touched up. and yes, my hair is a normal color again! thank you, audrey scott! she brought it back to a blondish brownish color right before we moved.
that evening my mom took me, ashton, and wyatt out to dinner and to old navy to get ashton some new school clothes. thanks, mom!
and later that night T and i went to see the new batman movie, "The Dark Knight". i was really impressed (as was everyone else) with heath ledger's role as the joker. there was no trace of heath in there! it was amazing how well he got into the character. but it was also quite violent and i'm not going to let ashton see it, much to his dismay.
so, saturday we went to the Louisville, KY temple with my husband's family. my brother-in-law, temkai, will be leaving on his mission to San Bernadino, CA in three weeks so this was a pretty big deal. T's grandparents and some of his aunts and uncles and cousins came to town for the weekend and we took family pictures that night. and seeing the pictures made me realize how badly i need to lose the rest of my wyatt weight!
sunday was nora's (my sister-in-law's new baby) blessing. she is probably one of the prettiest babies in the world. she must take after her mom. :)
monday morning started for me at 3:30 am, when i got up to leave for the American Idol auditions in Louisville! i waited in the line for about 3 hours, during which the humidity made my hair look puffy and ridiculous instead of smooth and stylish. the tryouts were held in a big arena and, with thousands of people looking on, i was one of the first 10 people to audition. no simon, randy, or paula, it was just in front of some producers who do the initial cuts. i was pretty sure i wouldn't make it to hollywood (i'm a good singer, but not strong enough to impress the judges), but i figured i'd at least give it a try. i've realized i need to do more things in my life that are out of my comfort zone, just to have more experiences. so, no surprise, i wasn't invited to hollywood. but it was still fun to have tried! here are a couple pictures from the AI auditions-
